Humbled

A week or so ago, I wrote a post title Defying All Expectations as a part of a contest put on by Lysa Terkeurst of Proverbs 31 Ministries. The purpose of the post was to explain why you wanted to go to their annual She Speaks conference. It is with great excitement and a hearty dose of humility that I share that I was one of four recipients chosen to go this year! Hop over to Lysa's blog to see the links to the other winners' blogs...you will surely be blessed.

I'm still processing the news and have admittedly had to check back several times just to be sure that I read her post accurately. After all, I'm just an ordinary woman whose been through some tough things who loves her Jesus. I am a Mommy to five precious children, two entrusted to my care on earth, three who live with their Father in heaven. I am a wife and a sister and a daughter and a friend. I love to sing and write and teach. I often act silly and some people don't get my sense of humor. I am so many things, but nothing really.

Still, more important than any of those things mentioned above, I am a child of God. I belong to my Father in heaven, who sent His One and only Son to die on a cross in my place. I am a daughter of the King! He loved, I hated. He didn't deserve death, I did. He lived a perfect life, I can't. He took the nails, my sin drove them in. He died on that cross, it should have been me. Oh, but He didn't stay dead. He is RISEN. HE LIVES! And because He lives...I am free. Because He is the spotless lamb, I am forgiven. Because he conquered sin and death, I am justified. Because He loves me, I am a work in progress. Because I believe and live for Him, I am His child. Because He loved first, I am able to love. Because He suffered, I am able to comfort others. Because He strengthens, I am able to encourage. Because He gives grace, I am able to minister to a broken woman's heart and come alongside her when she misses her baby. Because He promises, I have hope. Because He is the I AM, I am His.

It's not about me...it's all about HIM! Thank you, Jesus!

"Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." (Psalm 115:1)

Congrats on winning - I've been meaning to write since Lysa posted the winners. I pray He will bless your time and continue to use you to point others to Him. Two years ago this August we had a miscarriage and I would have loved to see your site then, but am thankful for the words you share now and the lives you touch. Thank you for allowing others to be comforted as He has comforted you! From one Iowa girl to another, God bless, Jill
