Where is your hope?

I was truly encouraged by the Lord today! I logged on to my computer to check my emails and immediately went to Proverbs 31 Ministries to the daily devotion they post. I don't do this every day, but try to most days. I was so encouraged to see that the verse that started off the devotion was John 14:18,

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."

I went on to reading the devotion, only to find that the writer of the devotion was grieving the loss of her little boy, who would have been 3 years old. I immediately thought of you ~ Mommies with Hope. I thought about Chloe, my own daughter, and each of your children, and how this holiday season we would give anything just to have them here with us! Chloe would be two-and-a-half and I can just imagine how she would tear into the gifts with such excitement, or how she would look after making a mess of her pumpkin pie! Still, I was reminded that during this difficult time, we have a hope in Jesus Christ and an assurance that when our children took their last breaths on this earth, they were welcomed by an unimaginable love and glory of our Lord at the gates of heaven.

"We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth." Colossians 1:3-6

So this Thanksgiving, ponder the following...
What are you thankful for? Do you have the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ? What do you put your hope in this holiday season?

I would like to encourage you to post a comment in response to this reflection. Let your hope be an encouragement to another grieving mother this Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the many blessings that have come from my child's life. I have grown closer to God and have comfort knowing I will see her again.

I'm glad I could be an encouragement to others today....God does know that I've needed it myself so many times.

As our arms ache to hold our little ones, I can't help but think that maybe that's how God's arms feel when we don't run to him...
