Have you not heard?

Having experienced the loss of your child, there is likely a time when you've wondered, or maybe even dared to question, where God is in all this? After all, God is supposed to be all loving, all powerful, and in control of everything. If that is true, then why did He allow my baby to die? First, let me say, God IS all loving, all powerful, and in control. This, we know from His Word, is absolute Truth. Countless verses flood my mind as I contemplate the character of God - too many to share for the purposes of this post. Here are just a few of the truths (paraphrased) from His Word that attest to His loving, powerful, and sovereign character:

Psalm 100:5 - God is good, His love is eternal, and He is faithful!
Psalm 145 - The entire psalm is a praise to God for His majesty, love, righteousness, and power!
John 3:16 - God loves the world so much He gave up His only Son, Jesus, for us!
1 John 4:9-10 - God is Love!

Now, back to the question posed in the title of this post, Have you not heard? "Heard what?" you ask. Have you not heard about God's goodness, His faithfulness, and His love? The verses below from Isaiah are such a comfort in difficult times.

Isaiah 40:28-31
28
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Heavenly Father,
I thank and praise you for making me who I am in your miraculous acts of creation. I admit, Lord, that I am hurt and sometimes I wonder why I have had to endure the pains of this world. Help me to keep my focus on you, God, and not on circumstances in life, because I know that this world will bring sadness, tears, and mourning. I can't wait for the day, Lord, when I enter into eternity with You in Your Kingdom to experience complete joy where there will be no more crying, tears, or pain! I thank you God that You love me so much that You were willing to give up your One and only Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for my sins through His death on the cross. When I am weak, God, help me to embrace this Truth to get me through each day. I love you Lord! Amen.
